Beauty for a Cause - The Effect

Audrey Woodley, founder and CEO of Better Destination Media, shared her insights on personal branding and empowerment with a host of professional women at her two-in-one event, Beauty for a Cause. Taking place on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Sophie’s Restaurant, Beauty for a Cause was a heartfelt event honoring women who have either battled with breast cancer themselves or have supported a friend or loved one struggling with the disease while providing an all-inclusive branding workshop for women entrepreneurs.

Arishe Sims, founder and CEO of A’Marie Collection, opened the afternoon with the compelling story behind her independent cosmetics brand, as well as an account of how her make-up and skincare line gives back to multiple foundations - including her own Ava Marie Foundation, which supports research surrounding the prevention of neonatal death.

Sims’ opening remarks were followed by a few words from the founder and host herself. Standing before an intimate table setting, complete with fresh flowers, feminine chic decor and an elegant brunch spread, Woodley explained her inspiration for the event. Guests listened intently as she shared touching stories about how her mother motivated her to encourage other women to live their lives “fearless, fabulous and fulfilled.” Her dynamic message not only opened the eyes of seasoned guests affected in some way by a cancer experience, but those of the Millennial generation who were in attendance, as well.

Beauty for a Cause honored the lovely and courageous Tatisa C. Joiner, entrepreneur and founder of the Tatisa C. Joiner Foundation. Joiner’s words were powerful, resonant with meaning, and so much more! Many attendees were moved to tears by her admirable story - setting the tone for an afternoon of uplift and reflection. Additional speakers such as Omera Mahon, founder and CEO of Omera Mahon Image Consulting, and JoAnne Madden, survivor and Executive Director for top company Estee Lauder, kept the momentum going. Their engaging thoughts on positive thinking, perseverance and living an abundant life perfectly captured the spirit and intent of this power-packed event
